Therefore this hornbill bird Kenyalang was used for ritual purposes placed at the Sadau before placing it at the Ruai / chief varendah.

A ceremony to drive away bad spirits is seen with head trophy or skull of the longhouse taken down from their clusters. Therefore, shortly after the skulls have been brought to the feast chiefs varendah. Subsequently, one man kills a chicken and smears its blood on the sacred hornbill bird statue. Then, rice wine is served and the feast begin. Thus, this is a very similar ritual to some of my old textiles, the pua kumbu.
