Description

Borneo Figurine / spiritual figure commemorating the deceased. However, it is not always an ancestor but a more general representation of supernatural guardians of the Dayak religious system. Spiritual figure protects the living from the After-world. Hampatong (also hempatong, empatung, tempatong, or kepatong) / figure / statue / Borneo figurine. The Hampatong stands atop a slab plinth with both arms resting together with it’s classic oversize flaming ears.
