Antique Door / aged Tongkonan rectangular door, carved in high relief in the form of a Water Buffalo Head. Water Buffalo plays a central role in the Toraja culture, in certain rites dozens of large Water Buffalo were slaughtered in a single ceremony. Aluk to dolo, the Toraja religion, venerated water buffalo as their primary auspicious animal totem. These animals were sacrificed at great funerals to accompany the dead to the next world.
The only Toraja antique door in my collection, similar Toraja doors were also used to conceal tombs.

Wikipedia: Tongkonan is the traditional ancestral house, or rumah adat of the Torajan people, in South Sulawesi Indonesia. Tongkonan have a distinguishing boat-shaped and oversized saddleback roof. In the original Toraja society, only nobles had the right to build tongkonan. Commoners live in smaller and less decorated homes called banua.
