Old piece, carved Toraja Barn Window from a Tongkonan home. Circa 1965. Original aged condition, I have polished it to a glowing finish and there are no repair, in good solid condition.

Vintage Window Barn / Old Tongkonan ricebarn casement / panel, hand-carved Mawa / ma’a figurine seated on buffalo throne to bless bountiful agricultural cycles and increasing buffalo herds. Aged vintage window barn, rare.

Wikipedia: Tongkonan is the traditional ancestral house, or rumah adat of the Torajan people, in South Sulawesi Indonesia. Tongkonan have a distinguishing boat-shaped and oversized saddleback roof.  In the original Toraja society, only nobles had the right to build tongkonan. Commoners live in smaller and less decorated homes called banua.
